Infected

May 23, 1996
Who were these suited gentlefolk ... um, Infected? The growling Joe Kapiteyn, his velcro-attached dreds whipping his fellow comrades, launched into their subsonic grindcore that only gets better as technology creeps further into their sound.
Bjorg Satere's keyboard-driven, airy industrial chimes underlaid the dark and heavy strings, a more sequenced drum sound succinctly maintained the difficult arrangements. A piece like Brick Wall View showed Infected as the tight, world-class noise-smiths that they truly are.
Do yourself a service if you are slightly interested in the modern form of primeval musical power.

The West Australian is W.A.'s state newspaper. The versions appearing here are the unedited versions which were subsequently edited for space, clarity and reality for publication by editors Sue Yeap and Ara Jansen. Italicised comments in the body of the reviews/interviews - if present - are the notes I sent to the editors to clarify certain situations such as missed deadlines, personal disasters or simple non sequitur, which always makes for good reading.
